"Our gamers are telling us there's lots of services and innovation they would like to see that they're not getting yet," they said. "There is demand from the core gamers to pay up for that."
The core gamers are demanding to pay? OK, let me put it this way: I just have to use the legendary line here:
Who writes this stuff?!
What the core gamers are demanding, and Activison is well aware of, is for them not to have crippled the PC version of the bloody Modern Warfare 2, like they did. They are simply demanding the features which were present in all the Call of Duty games until now.
It was though sure as hell why did Activision decide not to include those features in MW2.
They are now just confirming what they had planned all along. They want your money, for DLC - they will want your money for each map you download, for new perks and stuff.
As if it was not enough that those greedy bastards earned hundreds of millions in just a few days with the sales of MW2 to console noobs, who think even wrestling games are "awesome", now they are planning to milk that cow to the max.
Every PC gamer supporting Activision/IW in this, is just giving them, and possibly other developers/publishers the go, to do so in the future as well.
But hey, if you have money to throw away, you might as well invest in us ;)
