One of the most anticipated digital creations. According to many, a masterpiece. "A psychological thriller", according to producers. A troubled man, suffering from insomnia, seeks help in a secluded clinic, when nightmares start to become reality. Sounds like a movie script? It does: Alan Wake.

 

The news about a game being developed by Remedy Entertainment, the company behind Max Payne, wouldn’t have been anything special when Alan Wake was announced some years ago , if it wasn’t for the rather "interesting" story, and some few screenshots, which showed "something different".

 

The story about a writer who suffers from insomnia, and has to deal with a loss, did not sound like a story for a typicall game at all. It sounded much more like a big screen drama. In fact, maybe that was the intent of the producers: To finally produce a game which would back up claims that video games are indeed art.

 

Since the first announcement, Alan Wake has managed - despite scarse information - to create a unique type of hype. A feeling like something really big, yet very silent is coming.
